A Child-Centered EnvironmentParents - A Crucial Component
Parents and family are just as much a part of the CMS community as students, teachers and staff.
As an integral part of the Montessori experience, parents are a crucial component to a successful school.
Parents are invited to observe the child’s class through the one-way windows whenever convenient. There is also a scheduled Parent Visiting Day offered twice a year to each family. This allows a parent to shadow their child and experience a typical school day.
We’ve found that these experiences have been beneficial to parents in obtaining a better understanding of the Montessori philosophy and our program.
Parents are also welcome to visit their child’s class to share their special talents, interests, and occupations with the children. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year and can be arranged more often when needed. Written reports are prepared upon graduation.
Parent Teacher Partnership (PTP) meetings are held monthly to discuss school-wide issues and activities.
Our Parent Co-op Program gives parents many opportunities for involvement and assures that all families are equally represented in the daily life of the school. Each family’s participation benefits every child enrolled and strengthens the school community. Each family is asked to donate 20 hours per school year.
Guidelines, including suggestions for participation, are outlined in a separate brochure given to each family at the start of the school year.
